Tessa Family

Wenmar Beef Shorthorns presents our Tessa Family of beef shorthorn cattle. Our aim is to breed quality bulls and heifers suitable to carry the breed forward onto the next generation. Wenmar Beef Shorthorns are members of PCHS, and all our cattle carry a very high health status. We are fully accredited free of IBR, BVD and Lepto. We are also Johnes level 1 accredited.

Photo taken September 2019. Tessa J111 is a daughter from our old foundation cow Tessa 263, who we sold when we dispersed our aged cows. J111 is a Podehole Beefeater daughter, she carries all of his style and presence. To date she has reared us three calves. We are due a heifer calf soon, which will then hopefully follow in her mothers footsteps to continue this strong female line.

Photo taken early October 2019. Tessa N016 is sired by Wenmar Lootah, a tremendous bull sired by Shadybrook Qantas. The Tessa family are one of our quietest families we have, and as heifers they are not always the sweetest. But N016 is the exception being sweet with volume and depth. N016 in my mind is a stylish heifer, and hopefully she will find her place to enhance the qualities of this very strong female line, developing into another very good Tessa mother.

Photo taken October 2019. Wenmar Tessa M186 was a small late bred calf, but has developed well into a large framed heifer. Her mother J098 was my favourite heifer of her group who produced us two heifers, which are both being retained for the forseeable future. M186 is due to calve her first calf this coming spring sired by Wenmar Major, the full ET brother to Melita Rose M164.
