Melody Family

Wenmar Beef Shorthorns presents our Melody Family of beef shorthorn cattle. Our aim is to breed quality bulls and heifers suitable to carry the breed forward onto the next generation. Wenmar Beef Shorthorns are members of PCHS, and all our cattle carry a very high health status. We are fully accredited free of IBR, BVD and Lepto. We are also Johnes level 1 accredited.

Photo taken October 2019. Melody F038 is bred from a home bred cow, 006, an exceptional female line. She has already proven her mothering ability and now achieved a classification of EX91. F038 is not the biggest of our cows, but she does a great job on her calves and has added our herd another great heifer calf in 2020. Melody has a very quiet temperament and follows her mother's and grandmother's traits 100%. She is a lady who will see out her days here at Wenmar.

Photo taken early January 2021. Melody P020 is another smart, well developed heifer to add to this tremendous female line. I hope that she takes after her mother F038 who just gets better with age in nature and mothering ability.

Photo taken September 2019. Melody L140 has reared us a very strong calf this year. She will be retained with her mother and her full sister Melody N002 to strengthen our Melody female line. Her mother F038 has been reclassified this year as an aged cow as being excellent at EX91. L140 in my opinion is better than her mother, time will tell how she scores as an aged cow. We are hoping for a heifer calf from her soon, to help us rebuild the herd size following our recent move. We have a lot of faith in this strong milky female line, they are a pleasure to work with.
